Fragrant Fall Beauty Faves

For the past several years I have been very complacent in my perfume and scented lotions. I used to stick to one main scent and get most of my lotions and other beauty products unscented. But lately I’ve been rediscovering my love for scented everything.

I think it started with candles and getting my home to smell warm and inviting (as I mentioned before). But now I’m “branching out” and all excited that I can get my hands on fragrant beauty products that actually work. Most of my life I have avoided scented everything because of my sensitive skin. My eczema meant I didn’t want to chance a flare up just to smell nice. Perhaps my skin has evolved, but either way I’m excited to be able to share my latest beauty faves that smell good and don’t irritate my skin.

dionis goat milk hand cream

Dionis Goat Milk Hand Cream in Love and Roseberry

My love affair with Dionis started where all great love affairs start: Cracker Barrel. After the delicious pancakes, the chicken, and the coffee I always find myself wandering around the shop. These little 1 oz hand creams were only $2, so I clearly I grabbed two of them.

I usually stick to non scented hand creams because my skin just can’t handle fragrance. Maybe it’s the goal milk, but these little guys don’t cause any irritation and smell so wonderful that it is absolutely one of my fragrant fall beauty faves.

The weird thing about scent is that it is so difficult to describe. That’s probably why perfume commercials are so crazy. The weird thing about a scent called “love” is that it is even more difficult to describe. It smells like I would imagine the color pink would smell: light, floral, and feminine but not too sweet or sugary. It’s easily my favorite scent of the moment.

Dionis Goat Milk Hand Cream is made in the USA without Parabens. AND they actually moisturize your hands. AND they smell great. Smooth hands that smell good for under $3.00? Winner.

review hask argan hair treatment oilHask Argan Healing Shine Hair Treatment Oil

I’ve already blogged about how great the Hask Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner have been to me, but I am definitely in love with the Hair Treatment Oil. Contrary to the shampoo and conditioner, the oil has a strong citrus scent. I find it to be a great addition to my hair on early mornings when I need a zap of energy. And while you wouldn’t think something on your hair could affect your skin, I always have to be careful in the summer months when I’m wearing strapless or sleeveless tops. It’s November so obviously this isn’t an issue for me right now, but even if it were I’m fairly certain this oil would pass the sensitive skin test.

neelue kaur shava essential oil blend

Neelu Kaur Ayurvedic Organic Essential Oil Blend in Shava

A couple of months ago, one of my favorite yoga teachers used Neelu Kaur Essential Oil Blends during Savasana. Maybe it was the wonderful class, or maybe it was the mini massage we get at the end but oh my goodness the Essential Oil Blend brought me such a blissful experience that I almost cried. She applied it topically onto her hands first before gentling pressing into our shoulders. It was a very welcome aromatherapy escape.

Up until a year ago I couldn’t wear roller ball scents because, you guessed it, my sensitive skin couldn’t handle it. When my skin took well to this particular oil I knew I had to get my hands on some. I immediately contacted Neelu Kaur on Instagram and purchased two of my favorite scents, including Shava. The purpose of the Shava blend is pretty specific to what I always need: it is cool and soothing, meant to be the water to my fire.

Shava’s blend of Lavender, Mint, Natural Vanilla, Amyris, Cinnamon, Peppermint and Jojoba oils cool and soothe you even in your most heated moments.

Whenever I think of essential oils I am always imagining lavender and peppermint to be the main focus. However, Neelu has done an amazing job crafting these blends to be both unique and soothing without being your stereotypical essential oil blends. The best part about owning them is that even when I’m too busy to make a yoga class (which is always lately) I can incorporate a savasana scent into my home practice. By adding Shava to my wrists and behind my ears it gives a feeling of completeness to my self-led sessions.

Having annoyingly sensitive skin is something I’m really happy to finally be growing out of. I’m so excited because now I can actually take part in all the fun beauty products I’ve been missing out on! Scented hand creams, body wash, face creams, lotions, and more! It’s like I’m 13 years old all over again!

On a more fun and completely unrelated note: HAPPY HUNGER GAMES. Oh man. I am already all about the tears in preparation for this evening’s viewing. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE.
