Moving In: Pt1

{#Phoenixthemancat getting comfy on the new couch}

So I was planning on posting this post two days ago, but life and work got in the way. Please excuse me while I continue to mourn the loss of my home office and the impact it has had on my blogging. Anyway, this weekend was the first in the new apartment, and it’s safe to say I am in love. Moving in was a lot of hard work, and we smelled terrible pretty much all weekend, but I am so glad it’s over and that we’re in. Props to my father-in-law for helping us out again. And props to Mike for doing almost all of the laundry while I unpacked. True love!

The other night had a lot of firsts: the first meal I cooked in the apartment, the first night we had a real mattress, and the first time we ran the dishwasher! It’s totally ridiculous how happy all of those firsts make me. They’re random things to celebrate but whatever. As far as the mattress… well, we’d been sleeping on the air bed until our new one came. I’m planning a separate review on the whole mattress process, but spoiler alert: I love it. I woke up this morning not knowing what planet I was on. Who knew a mattress could do that?!

For fun, and for my sanity, here’s a list of what’s left to do or buy in the apartment:

BEDROOM:

  • Storage Bins
  • Hang curtain rod
  • Different curtains?
  • Mount TV/get a mini entertainment center?
  • Confirm if we can fit an additional dresser

LIVING ROOM:

  • Hallway Runner
  • Desk
  • Hang curtain rod
  • Different curtains?

KITCHEN:

  • Granite counter top cleaner
  • Stainless steel cleaner
  • Bake ware (old stuff was damaged from the move)
  • Wok
  • Sauce pan

MISC:

  • All of the laundry
  • Pack for California (see my packing list) (I CAN’T BELIEVE WE LEAVE SO SOON)
  • Get twine for the recyclables
  • Figure out winter clothing storage officially (space bags everywhere? Hanging space bags?)
  • Unpack the remaining few boxes that are left

I’ve been so exhausted every single night this week, but really and truly I am so beyond thankful to be in this new apartment. I can’t wait to share pictures once it’s ready!
