Le fiancé and I have been together now for five long years – not bad for still being in our early twenties! We have so many photos together (696 according to Facebook!), but zero by a professional photographer. When we got engaged I immediately knew I wanted someone to be able to capture us in all our lovey dovey glory, and when M confirmed his plans to come home with me for Thanksgiving I knew I wanted the photos to be in my home state. I’ve already given in and am getting married in NYC (more details on that to come!) so I wanted to be sure at least something was done in California.
We were able to get two amazing Bay Area photographers, Luke and his beautiful wife BreAnne of 1985 Luke Photography. Fun Fact: I actually met Bre when we were sixteen years old at a mutual friend’s sweet sixteen party. We totally clicked and spent most of the party chatting about our lives (awesome because we were 16), our schools (we went to rival high schools), and our shared interests (Disneyland, Disney Princesses… I knew I liked this girl!). I even remember drooling over her pink Juicy Couture T-Mobile Sidekick! When Facebook became a thing a year or two later (am I showing my age?) she popped up on a list of people I might know, and we’ve been Facebook Friends ever since.
Since we first met, Bre has done tons of amazing things including marrying a great guy and becoming part of the amazing duo that is 1985 Luke Photography. I’ve stalked their posts on Instagram and Facebook over the past couple of years, and their amazing portfolio made me certain that I wanted to work with them in some way. People – this just goes to show you that no matter how old you are, it’s never too early to start networking! You never know, lol!
Anyway, as soon as the hubs and I confirmed our trip I immediately contacted Bre and asked if she and her husband would be available for an engagement photo session. We chatted over the course of a few weeks bouncing ideas and locations off each other when finally she suggested the Lexington Reservoir in Los Gatos. It had everything I wanted: the mountains for a backdrop, fog rolling in off the hills, a large body of water, and lots of green trees!
These shots are just from the sneak peek, but I couldn’t help it… I had to share them! They are the sweetest couple, and walking through the reservoir and surrounding areas with them felt more like a fun double date than a photo shoot. And yes, I’m standing on a random cement block in order to be as tall as my fiancé . I don’t think I ever realized how serious the height difference was until just now, lol! Whatever.. I’m told that good things come in small packages.
