Last weekend the East Coast was bombarded with 2 feet of snow, so my epic wedding planning weekend with my mom was cancelled completely. My entire family lives 3,000 miles away from me, and while technology makes things easier it still isn’t the same. No one can replace your mom, you know?
When her trip was cancelled I was pretty devastated by it – not going to lie. I’d done everything at this point just via email and phone calls with her, except booking the venue. Not much was done just the two of us together. So we had a big weekend planned that the snow totally busted. But luckily this bad ass mother of mine was able to squeeze in a 24 hour layover into NYC on her way back from a business trip. Am I lucky or what? Here are some snaps from our whirlwind day together.
We got SO MUCH DONE: I picked her up from the airport, we viewed the post-wedding brunch location (and booked it!), ate a delicious breakfast at the hotel, drove into the city and completed the invite stationery, selected a look for my hair and make up (follow me on snap chat @lovelaralove for a sneak peak!), drove to the venue and met with the wedding coordinator/florist and chef, ate a delicious dinner, and got all the bridesmaid gift baskets together. She was in town for such a short amount of time that my fiance didn’t even get a chance to see her! And we had so much to do today that I reluctantly passed up a mother-sponsored Cotsco trip. You know it’s serious when I pass up a lifetime supply of toilet paper and Q Tips! lol!
It’s all happening so quickly… April will be here before we know it! Ah! I hate writing that but it’s true. Here’s the million more things on my to do list and all the energy I am going to need to tackle it. I have pilates teacher training this weekend, so wish me luck!
