Today’s post is coming at you a little late because, well, life. And working full time. And forgetting I had a private Pilates session…oops! Anyway, today is super random but itsmyblogidowhatiwant.
We’re coming in at 5 and a half months until the wedding (eeek!) and I have so so much to do, so I figured I would write it all out here and get it together. And no, this isn’t a wedding blog (as I’m sure you can tell from the lack of wedding related content). But since I truly am in the midst of planning a wedding I might as well write about what’s up, you know? That being said, it’s difficult to know what to share and what not to share because I want to share updates but I don’t want to give anything away!!
We went to our Pre-Cana classes last weekend and it was a truly wonderful experience. A lot of movies make it look like marriage prep is done by someone who has never been married or by someone who sits there judging you. But that couldn’t be further from the truth with our experience. It was more or less self led. Speaking to other couples, or even the Deacon and his wife was discouraged as the entire process was about learning about each other without any distractions. I absolutely understand why it is important and mandatory in the Catholic Church and I would honestly highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. No matter how great you think your relationship is, this particular class helps you prepare for marriage in a more structured way.
Our registry was a lot of fun to make, although it was sort of challenging. We’ve lived together for 4 years and we have a smaller apartment, so we’re basically just upgrading everything we have. My mom has family China she is passing down to me, and we definitely won’t be entertaining tons of people any time soon. That being said, we had so much fun making the registry and it’s so nice that we’re able to do something like this. We’re really blessed that our family and friends are going to be able to contribute to our lives together.
Although, according to every wedding magazine the registry is apparently this is one of the things couples fight the most in the wedding planning (?) but Mike and I had a great time. And by that I mean he let me pick out whatever I wanted. Luckily we have the same taste, and he genuinely didn’t care what I selected because it all looked good. Sometimes I’m too lucky!
It’s been fun picking different things out because any time I feel the urge to go online shopping I just add to the registry instead! We ended up registering at 3 different places – I’ll write more about it later but hint hint … one of them in Anthropologie!!!!
Our third engagement shoot (yes really) is being scheduled fairly soon (see the first two here and here). Our amazing photographer requires an engagement session because she wants to get to know us and for us to be comfortable in front of the camera before the big day. We’ve done two outdoorsy style shoots, so this time we’re definitely going to do a more formal, city style one. There’s no date officially yet because I am stressing out about what to wear and the fact that I’m still 15 pounds heavier than I want to be. But here are the shots I’m totally drooling over:

It’s go time now: if I don’t lose weight by January then basically I’m stuck looking like this on the day of the wedding! Sh*t just got real and I’m nervous/excited/broke/happy/exhausted!
